Crescent Moon Not Sighted, Resulting in 30-Day Ramadan

The Royal Court of Saudi Arabia has officially announced the dates for the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holiday. The end of Ramadan and start of Eid Al Fitr will be determined by the sighting of the crescent moon.

According to the Supreme Court's Crescent Department, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 (Ramadan 30, 1445 Hijri) marks the completion of Ramadan. Subsequently, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 (Shawwal 1, 1445 Hijri) will be the first day of the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The Ministry of Human Resources has confirmed that the crescent moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Monday, April 8. Therefore, Ramadan 2024 will consist of 30 days.

The duration and exact start date of the holiday will be confirmed following the official sighting of the moon. Last year, residents enjoyed a four-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr.

The Fatwa Council in Saudi Arabia has urged Muslims to look for the crescent moon to mark the start of Eid Al Fitr.
